Arulmigu Pasumalai Subramanya Swamy Temple, situated atop the serene Pasumalai Hill at Mel-Olakkur near Gingee in Viluppuram District, is a revered abode of Lord Subramanya Swamy (Murugan). Although there are very few written historical records that precisely document the temple’s origin or the period of its construction, local traditions and the unwavering faith of devotees indicate that this sacred shrine has been a place of Murugan worship for many generations.

The name “Pasumalai” translates to “Green Hill,” reflecting the lush natural surroundings that envelop the temple. Since ancient times, hills have been regarded as sacred abodes of Lord Murugan in Tamil tradition.
