According to Hindu mythology, Lord Shiva once challenged his sons, Kartikeya and Ganesha, to circle the universe seven times, promising that the winner would be worshipped first. While Kartikeya embarked on the journey, Ganesha circled their parents, symbolizing that they encompass the universe. Impressed by Ganesha's wisdom, Shiva granted him the privilege. In response, Kartikeya offered his flesh and bones to his father, an event believed to have occurred at this site, leading to the establishment of the temple where his bones are worshipped.
