Dedicated to Lord Murugan in the form of Dhandayuthapani, this temple is believed to be over 500 years old and associated with the Pandya kings. The deity is a rare Swayambu (self-manifested) Murugan idol, about 4 feet tall, uniquely holding a sugarcane with 11 segments. Another distinctive feature is the presence of a topknot (uchchi kudumi), which is uncommon in typical Dhandayuthapani representations.

 

The temple holds great spiritual significance, especially during the Tamil month of Masi (February–March), when the rays of the sun fall directly on the deity for three days, symbolizing divine blessings. Uniquely, Lord Murugan here faces a Shiva temple located in the same village, representing the bond between father and son, and the shrine is often considered equal in spiritual power to the Palani Murugan Temple.
