Mayoorapathy Sri Murugan Tempel, Berlin The Sri Mayurapathy Murugan Temple Berlin, located in the German capital, is one of the few Hindu temples in the Western hemisphere. Founded in 1991 by nine Sri Lankan Tamils, it was established to provide a place of refuge for the needy, a space for believers to offer prayers, and a sanctuary for spiritual cleansing.The temple’s inauguration was marked by a Kumbabishekam ceremony, a significant Hindu ritual. Simultaneously, the Berlin Hindu Mahasabai e.V. was formed, an assembly of 200 members that continues to oversee the temple’s operations.Through the collective efforts of the board and the support of the Berlin community, the temple’s modest facilities were acquired and transformed into a shared space.
